What this policy covers
This policy explains how the Dakia desktop application and website handle information. Dakia is provided by Mashal Tech OÜ (Estonian registry code 17198029). Questions can be sent to [email protected].
The Dakia desktop application
Dakia stores account settings, credentials, downloaded mail, search indexes, categories, and preferences locally on your device. Dakia does not operate a cloud mailbox or collect telemetry about how you use the application.
Email providers
The application connects directly to providers you choose. Providers process your account and message information under their own privacy policies. Removing an account removes Dakia’s local account data and credentials; it does not delete mail held by your provider.
Google user data
When you connect a Google account, Dakia requests the Gmail permission needed to act as an email client. It uses that access only to authenticate directly with Gmail, synchronize and display your mail, search and organize it on your device, and send the messages you choose to send.
Google account credentials are encrypted in Dakia's local credential store. Google mail and derived data are stored locally on your device; they are not sent to or stored on servers operated by Dakia. Dakia does not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or allow humans to read it.
If you deliberately invoke an optional AI command, Dakia sends only the email content you selected to the provider and endpoint you configured to return the result you requested. Dakia does not use Google user data to train or improve a generalized AI or machine-learning model.
Removing a Google account from Dakia deletes its local credentials and locally stored mail data. You can separately revoke Dakia's Google access from your Google Account permissions. Dakia's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Offline translation
Dakia can download language packs for on-device translation. Email subjects and message bodies are processed locally and are not sent to Dakia or a third-party translation service. Installed language packs can be removed in Settings.
Optional command-line AI processing
If you deliberately use Dakia's optional AI command, the selected email content is sent to the provider and endpoint you configure. Dakia does not operate that provider or receive a copy of the request.
Website data
The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process standard request data such as IP address, browser type, requested page, and timestamp to deliver and secure the website. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregated website traffic and page performance. Cloudflare states that its Web Analytics does not use cookies or local storage for these metrics and does not track visitors across customers' websites. We do not intentionally keep website-request logs; any processing and retention performed automatically by Cloudflare, including Web Analytics data, is subject to Cloudflare's own policies.
Your choices and rights
You can remove local accounts and data through the application. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to personal-data processing. To make a request or ask a privacy question, email [email protected]. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity before responding to a request.
